Big Tex 16TD-16C2A-BK – 16′ Heavy Duty Telescopic Dump Trailer with Tarp

When the job calls for a dump trailer that can take a serious load and keep working, this is where things get Big Tex serious.

The Big Tex 16TD-16C2A-BK is a heavy-duty 16′ telescopic dump trailer built around 17,600-lb GVWR, tandem 8,000-lb axles, a 7-gauge steel floor, 24″ sides, and a 5-stage front-mounted telescopic cylinder. Add the included tarp system, rear combo gate, hydraulic dump operation, and a full-size toolbox, and you’ve got a trailer ready for dirt, gravel, demolition debris, landscaping materials, equipment, and plenty of other jobs that aren’t exactly known for being gentle.

In other words: this isn’t the trailer you call when you’ve got a couple of bags of mulch.

This is the one you call when you’ve got a job to finish.

Features & Benefits

17,600-Lb GVWR

The 16TD is built for heavier work, with a 17,600-lb GVWR and two 8,000-lb axles.

With a factory-listed 12,920-lb cargo capacity, you’ve got substantial room for hauling dirt, gravel, mulch, demolition debris, construction materials, and other heavy loads.

That’s a lot of trailer for a bumper pull.

5-Stage Front-Mounted Telescopic Cylinder

Big Tex puts the 5-stage telescopic cylinder at the front of the dump body.

That location keeps the cylinder accessible for service while providing the lifting power necessary to raise substantial loads. The 5-stage design also helps produce the trailer’s steep 45° dump angle, allowing material to clear the bed quickly when it’s time to unload.

Less sitting around waiting for the dirt to decide whether it wants to come out.

7-Gauge Steel Floor

The 7-gauge smooth steel floor is built for the kind of material that makes lesser floors nervous.

Whether you’re hauling aggregate, demolition debris, dirt, rock, or landscaping materials, the heavy steel floor provides a durable foundation for serious work.

24″ Tall 10-Gauge Sides

The standard 24″ sides provide useful volume without making the trailer excessively tall.

The formed channel supports add reinforcement to the sidewalls, giving the dump body the structure it needs for everyday commercial and construction use.

Big Tex also offers an optional 4′ solid-sheet side configuration for applications requiring substantially more volume.

Tarp System Included

This particular configuration includes the fully formed tarp shroud, tarp, and rear tarp-rod holders.

That’s an important feature when you’re hauling loose material. The tarp helps contain your load and provides a practical way to cover material during transport.

Because nobody wants a load of gravel turning into a gravel trail behind them.

Rear Combo Gate

The rear combo gate gives you two useful unloading configurations:

  • Barn-door style opening
  • Spreader-gate configuration

That makes the trailer more versatile when moving different types of material. You can open it wide for larger loads or use the spreader configuration when you need more controlled material placement.

Tandem 8,000-Lb Axles

Two 8,000-lb premium cambered axles give the 16TD the foundation necessary for its 17,600-lb GVWR.

The axles also use oil-bath hubs with Valcrum caps, providing a sealed lubrication system designed to simplify hub maintenance.

Self-Adjusting Electric Brakes on Both Axles

Both axles are equipped with forward self-adjusting electric brakes.

For a trailer this size, braking isn’t an afterthought. It’s part of the package.

8″ Seamless I-Beam Frame

The 16TD uses an 8″ seamless I-beam frame and 8″ I-beam tongue, backed by 3″ channel crossmembers on 16″ centers.

That’s the kind of structural foundation you want when the trailer spends its days carrying serious weight.

12,000-Lb Drop-Leg Jack

The heavy-duty 12,000-lb side-wind drop-leg jack provides substantial support when you’re hitching, unhitching, or positioning the trailer.

Mega Toolbox

The full-size toolbox provides storage for the things that seem to multiply every time you use a trailer: chains, straps, binders, tools, hydraulic accessories, and other job-site necessities.

The toolbox also houses the battery and hydraulic pump while providing a lockable storage area.

Rear Stabilizer Stands

Rear stabilizer stands provide additional support when loading and unloading equipment.

They’re particularly useful when the trailer is being used for more than simply hauling loose material.

Four Interior D-Rings & J-Hooks

The 16TD includes four 1/2″ D-rings inside the bed along with J-hooks positioned along the sides and rear for cargo control.

That means this dump trailer isn’t limited to dirt and gravel. It can also pull equipment-hauling duty when properly loaded and secured.

LED Lighting & Protected Wiring

Recessed, grommet-mounted LED lighting and a sealed modular cold-weather wiring harness provide a modern lighting and electrical package designed for the demands of a working trailer.

Who Is the Big Tex 16TD-16C2A-BK For?

The 16TD is designed for buyers who need more than a light-duty dump trailer.

It’s particularly well suited for:

  • General contractors
  • Excavation contractors
  • Landscapers
  • Site-work contractors
  • Grading contractors
  • Demolition contractors
  • Concrete contractors
  • Municipal and property-maintenance operations
  • Farmers and landowners
  • Equipment rental businesses
  • Construction companies
  • Heavy-duty material hauling

It’s especially useful when you need one trailer that can haul loose material, dump it quickly, and still handle equipment-hauling duties when the job changes.

Safety & Cargo Securement

A heavy-duty dump trailer still needs to be loaded correctly.

Never exceed the trailer’s GVWR, axle ratings, tire ratings, or the towing capacity of the tow vehicle. Distribute material properly, secure equipment with appropriately rated tie-downs, and inspect the coupler, safety chains, tires, wheels, brakes, hydraulic system, tarp, gate, and lights before every trip.

To cross-verify that your trailer configuration conforms to modern cargo security standards, review the safety regulations listed on the NATM Website.
